Charity of the Year

Our concerts are, whenever possible, free. We do this because we want people to experience music and share in our love for music making.

Our free concerts always end in a retiring collection, which is then donated to charity. Paid concerts only have a ticket price to ensure that we can over overheads (hall hire, expenses to cover other musical groups etc) and then all the profits from the concert are donated. This means that the Saxophone Orchestra UK doesn’t make any money from public performances.

Each year The Saxophone Orchestra Manchester holds a vote amongst it’s members in order to choose the charity of the year. On average the group is able to raise around £1500 a year.

The Saxophone Orchestra Leeds vote at each weekend course and raise around £600 a year.

So far the charities we have supported are:

British Red Cross in Ukraine

Shelter

Stockport without Abuse

Mustard Tree Manchester

St George’s Crypt Leeds

Olympia’s Music Foundation
